Why do we love this case?
The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 96 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
1x Curtis Martin's Vineyard Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
A special series wine from a prominent McLaren Vale winery isn’t something that’s easy to get our hands on. And we mean, sometimes this stuff can’t even be picked up when you bang on the doors of wineries themselves. So, safe to say we were jumping for joy to land this beauty from Curtis. Intensely dense, which sounds just as smooth as it drinks. Heightened aromas of blackcurrant and black cherries waft enticingly from the decanter, which help to open this to its full potential. The oak influence is superbly balanced, helping to lift the marked quality of the fruit and give this beauty the longevity it deserves. Sometimes you say we spoil you mofos, and we’re starting to think that you’re right.

1x Glen Eldon Twisted Trunk Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Enthralling suff. It’s always exciting to come across a wine with such presence in the glass. This has a powerful black fruit core that really ties the wine together, making it full and complete. The aromatic power of the wine walks the walk when it comes to the palate - glossy and full and rich. The fruit profile swarms the mouth; brambly, briary, bunchy. That freshness and focus of the fruit is followed by spice, coffee, and toffee nuance. This is immense in every sense of the word.

1x Burge Family Winemakers Reserve Draycott Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
This strikes the fresh jam cord perfectly (and it's a hard chord to play); the trick is to find developed fruit flavours without falling into overly unctuous and too-ripe territory. When winemakers get it right the results are outstanding - lucky for you, this is one such wine. Spiced, herbacious, and delivering a long fantail finish that ties the wine neatly together and has you (almost unconsciously) lifting the glass back to your lips. I will tell you to cellar this (and you will be rewarded if you do) but it's hypocritical of me, because I've already consumed my modest allocation.

1x Lights Valley Colonel Shiraz 2017
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Are we in any doubt anymore that Barossa is the true home of shiraz? Seriously, search the world over and you'll be hard pressed to find juice quite as impressive, quite as complex, and with quite as much history. Each wine that comes out of this prized region is worth holding tightly on to, but this. This right here. This is the stuff mofo. Our producers have been guarding this in their cellar, but they figured it was finally time to send it off to loving homes (ahem, that's us!). Genuinely deep and robust, this wine seems to have a never-ending palate of intrigue. Blackberry and liquorice dance with vanilla and a pantry full of baking spices. Do us a favour and savour every drop, it's worthy of the attention.

1x Schild Estate 'Edel' Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
A wax dipped, deeply layered beauty out of the hands of Schild Estate, on of Barossa's most adored producers. Macerated plums, fresh vanilla pods, cracked pepper and roasted coffee beans are just some of the layers that you can expect here. Did we mention a robust, silky palate? That's right, this is a wine of very high calibre. Given Schild Estate is all about their heritage estate vineyards, I guess we should never have been surprised at how good this could get.
You’d pay $130 full price.

1x Reschke Armenta Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Cabernet quite seriously doesn't get much better than this. The best of the best barrels are selected for this top-tier release, which speaks to the depth and complexity that meets you in every glass. Rich notes of roasted coffee and cocoa meet you on the nose, with a whopping lick of baking spices and clove in tandem. We were, quite frankly, gobsmacked to get our hands on this cab straight from the cellar of this iconic Coonawarra producer, and we're confident you'll feel just the same.
