Why do we love this case?
Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the inaugural Aged. Reds. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.
1x Pirramimma Ironstone Low Trellis Shiraz 2019
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
As wine lovers, the words 'low yield' always excite us, and with good reason. The concentration of fruit from a vineyard such as this, which produces a mere 2 tonnes of fruit, is quite frankly astonishing. Expect thick and rich decadent black plum up front, with all the McLaren Vale traits you would expect - notes of kirsch are excellently layered on sprinkles of toasty vanilla oak and dark chocolate. These rich oak notes are ever present on the finish, which is all carried forward by ripe mouth-watering tannins. This is a wine with fantastic balance already, but you can look to the future here and expect this wine to reward any cellaring for up to 20 years.
You’d pay $95 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Devitt & Moore Captain D. Bruce Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Rarely do you open wine when it’s in the perfect drinking window, but alas, we have one for you. With almost a decade in the bottle, its tannins have softened to perfection. Robust and vibrant dark berries are still at the core, but the layers are opening up, offering roasted notes, cigar box, olive tapenade and mineral warmth. Cabernet sauvignon with perfectly aged, fine tannins is genuinely such a pleasure; it makes you wonder why we don’t always wait ten years. An outstanding cabernet, wow, this really over-delivers.
You’d pay $150 full price.

1x St Hallet Sacred Ground Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
There is no mistaking a St Hallet classic - when it comes to shiraz, and when it comes to Barossa, they don't muck about. The Sacred Ground is an old favourite among the 'big and bold' faithful, and this iteration is no departure from that well earned reputation. Rich, ripe, chocolate, earthy and opulent. Little flecks of cedar and tobacco sit deftly around determined, full throttle fruit density. St Hallet at their best - unashamedly broad and imposing while remaining stylish, complex, and relinquishing no ground when it comes to sophistication.
You’d pay $130 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Sunshine Creek Ulysses Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Yarra Valley — Australia
Overwhelmingly cabernet with a little under 1/10 Malbec for good measure. New french oak gives plushness and shape, the density of the fruit (and the quality) gives drive, power, and grunt. A swirl of red and blue fruit at the fore, earth, spice, tobacco, and cedar follow quickly behind. This is stylish and finessed cabernet, as the cooler Yarra Valley is want to produce, and that bit of elegance is welcome - it pulls on the reigns of what is otherwise a full force, full bodied, beast of a wine.
You’d pay $150 full price.

1x Château Hauts de Granget Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2019
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
We’re getting pretty good at finding exceptional Bordeaux at unbelievable pricing. Humble, I know. But sometimes it’s good to give yourself a little pat on the back. We think we earned it with this one. It’s Saint-Emilion Grand Cru composed of 85% merlot and 15% cab franc that’s hitting all the right notes. And we’re not the only ones that feel that way - this is a certified Mofo fave.
You’d pay $80 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Château De Braude Haut Médoc 2015
Red — Cabernet Blend
Bordeaux — France
Château de Braude (owner and operated by Château Mongravey) has created a truly impeccable wine here. Rich and fruity, dark and dense, it’s a juicy drop that’s “firmly tannic with both wood and fruit,” according to Wine Enthusiast's rave review. Blackberry and plum form the core of this wine, which is classic and typical in all the right ways. It doesn't stop playing all the Bordeaux hits there, either; cedar, tomato leaf, rich wet earth, tobacco - this is a certifiable regional masterclass. Epic wine with the right (and, for Bordeaux of this style, borderline necessary) amount of age.
You’d pay $80 full price.
