1x Z Wines Hedley Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here. Heavy extraction means you’ll get that deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this.

1x Pertaringa 'Belonging to the Hills' Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
The Pertaringa name is no stranger to the Aussie household. The iconic Hardy family are to wine what vegemite is to toast: a perfect match. So, to land this beauty from the hands of Bec Hardy is monumental for us, and we couldn't be more pleased. This is McLaren Shiraz through and through, with densely packed dark chocolate and fresh roasted coffee exploding on the nose. The palate follows through just as true, layered with preserved plums, dark forest berries and a lick of vanillin softness. There's one word for this wine, and it's awesome.
You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Matahiwi Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2021
Red — Pinot Noir
Wairarapa — New Zealand
Pinot is a really tough grape to handle at the best of times, let alone when on a budget. Every now and then, though, you do find some gems. This is one of those. Made by the team at Matahiwi, who are known to over-deliver, this pinot does, and then some! Light and bright, it ticks the fruit, complexity and pinosity boxes with a flourish. A firm favourite of our customers and staff, excitement levels get pretty high when Matahiwi enters the building.

1x Pirramimma Heritage Limited Edition Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
If you don’t know by now, we think it’s time for you to loop yourself in. This Limited Edition shiraz comes from the best rows of their famous “War Horse” and “Ironstone” blocks. The vines are old and what they lack in quantity (yield), they make up for in superb quality. Full bodied, but balanced with pepper and spice, there are just so many layers to discover in this wine. Laden with luscious, ripe blackberries, earthy blackcurrants, mocha, hints of cedar and a dollop of liquorice, you’re in for a treat with this divine, velvety red.

1x Wills Domain Eightfold Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Australia
One of our go-to Margaret River producers has come up with the goods again! We love everything they do with cabernet and are always yearning for more. This one is from the strong 2020 vintage and boasts a big 95 points from Halliday. It’s super smooth, stylishly elegant and quite lifted on the nose with aromas of cherries and plums. Like all good Margs cab, it also has those herbal and spicy elements interlaced throughout. As things went so well in the vineyard in 2020, the need wasn’t there to drown the wine in oak. It’s there, but it’s quite subtle. The fruit speaks for itself and it is oh so eloquent.
You’d pay $80 full price.

1x Massimo Rattalino Ventisei Langhe Nebbiolo 2021
Red — Nebbiolo
Piemonte — Italy
In a world where imported wines often cost so much as to simply not be worth it, this beauty is a very welcome relief. It’s not Barolo, but it was never meant to be! It’s a delicious nebbiolo from Italy, with bags of character, at a price that means you can actually enjoy drinking it any day of the week. How’s that for a revolutionary concept?
There’s all the acid and tannin you’d expect from the grape, framing a rustic picture of violets, rosehip and sour cherries. In the spirit of the wine, leave your white truffles for the real exxy stuff. This one is happiest with a simple Bolognese or cheese sauce, and poured round the table in hearty glugs. Cin cin!
You’d pay $55 full price.
