Why do we love this case?
The Lucky Dip Case is here! The last time we did this, we broke the internet. This time we’ve bubble-wrapped the servers because they’re in for another beating.
Every case contains the same five Grand Cru Bordeauxs. More info on them below, but they're among our bestselling wines of all-time.
Then there’s the added excitement of seeing if you have won the world-beater lucky wine you will receive as your sixth.
The sixth wine is the wildcard and could be either of these:
Château Margaux 2000 worth $2000 (1 in 100 chance)
Chateau Galius Saint-Emillon Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2020 worth $90 (at a minimum!)
We should say up front: there are no returns on this - click here for case terms and conditions. As it’s a Lucky Dip, it would be unfair to other mofos running in the draw.
The easiest way to guarantee to get a bottle of Margaux is to go out and buy one for yourself. If you, like me, don’t have $1,750 handy, this is your best (and cheapest) option. Heard enough already? Pop that case in the cart and cross your fingers and toes. Otherwise, read on for a bit more info on these Bordeaux icons:
1x Château Tour de Yon St Emillon Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2020
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
The stars of the Right-Bank are on show here with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc complimenting one another to deliver a wine of the utmost composure — elegance, purity and all of that Bordeaux sophistication. It all starts with the old, sandy, gravelly soils where the vineyards are immaculately tended to, ensuring a wine that provides a pure expression of the region and varieties. 16 months of maturation in new oak provides extra layers of complexity with results that rival this Chateau's acclaimed neighbours.

1x Château Hauts de Granget Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2019
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
We’re getting pretty good at finding exceptional Bordeaux at unbelievable pricing. Humble, I know. But sometimes it’s good to give yourself a little pat on the back. We think we earned it with this one. It’s Saint-Emilion Grand Cru composed of 85% merlot and 15% cab franc that’s hitting all the right notes. And we’re not the only ones that feel that way - this is a certified Mofo fave.
You’d pay $80 full price.

1x Château le Loup Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2021
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
If you’re the kind of wine buyer looking for the best wine at the best price, look no further. Saint-Émilion grand cru rarely ever starts at a price like this. Even we did a double take! With a super high average score among wine-loving Vivino users, it’s a ‘get it while it’s hot’ limited red. A classic right-bank blend of merlot and cabernet franc, expect an inky red in your glass. Plums and dark cherries intertwine with cedar, expanding with a richness that tapers to a classic finish. There is also an edge of earthy notes here, only found in wonderfully earnest Bordeaux. French oak and gravelly tannins, it has it all to keep you wanting more. Perfect to cellar, yet, even better to drink, after all, people say life is short. While we are here we may as well sip grand cru, live long and prosper. Château le Loup Saint-Émilion grand cru, we love you.

1x Château Capet Duverger Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2019
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
Château Capet Duverger is the perfect example of a co-op driven wine success story in France. This Grand Cru from Saint-Emilion is of course led by merlot with the remaining fruit being cabernet sauvignon. The grapes are fermented in a gravity-flow winery before being put to rest in 20% new French oak for 12 months. It’s ripe, approachable, spicy and lengthy. Plum and blackberry lead the way with notes of leather, mushroom, vanilla and caramel adding complexity. Like many of the more modern Right Bank wines, this can be enjoyed now, but would also benefit from more time in the cellar.
You’d pay $78 full price.

2x Chateau Galius Saint-Emillon Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2020
Red — Merlot Blend
Bordeaux — France
In mofo history, we have never seen a wine fly out the door quite like this one. No exaggeration, never before has a wine been as loved by the mofo community. This Grand Cru Saint-Emilion is rich and ripe and at a magical point in its life, drinking very, very well. It’s a stunning example of how Bordeaux terroir shines through the merlot grape in all its generosity and finesse, with a touch of cab franc (15%) adding fresh notes to all that fruit. Expect an abundance of plums, vanilla and milk chocolate. Forest floor and herbal undergrowth are hidden softly underneath - sage and oregano, tobacco leaf. Spice ekes in around my edges, with broad, silky tannin riding on a backbone of bright acidity and keen structure. You can rest assured that you are going to be drinking the top-of-the-top of Bordeaux here.

Wild Card Wine #1
Château Margaux 2000
Bordeaux, France
4.8 Vivino (2000 Vintage) | 100 Points Robert Parker | 100 Points James Suckling | 99 Points Wine Advocate
One of the world's greatest wines, from the world's greatest region, and a top three vintage of all time. Put simply, this is among the greatest wines in all history, a true GOAT contender. A double 100 point, quadruple 99 point masterpiece. Fine boned yet powerful, bold yet ethereal, mystifying, and era defining. Savour this moment, Mofo, it’s art, history, decadence, and elite indulgence all wrapped up in one.
"Absolutely compelling in two tastings of this vintage, the 2000 Margaux is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The extraordinary seductiveness, complex aromatics, and purity it exhibits lead me to believe it has reached its window of full maturity. Medium-bodied, with layers of concentration, stunning blue, red, and black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, a subtle dosage of new oak, and a distinctive personality that is elegant while at the same time powerful and substantial, this is a multi-dimensional wine that was extremely approachable and drinkable in both tastings I had of it. The color remains a healthy, even opaque bluish/purple, but there is no reason to hesitate to drink it. It should evolve for another 30-40 years, so there is no hurry either." 100 Points, Robert Parker
