The Farrside vineyard is situated just 300m from another single vineyard of the Farr families, Sangreal, yet displays an utterly different and unique expression of pinot noir. A true testament to the skills and prowess of winemaking going on here and indicative of the universal ethos that all winemakers strive for — the transmission of terroir and a wine that expresses its place and where it was grown. This is the yin to the Sangreal's yang — dark, brooding and structured. Darker soils and a cooler site results in grapes that are picked 10-12 days later than the rest of the estates vineyards resulting in a wine that is edgier, mineral and savoury.
