Why do we love this wine?
Nga Waka (pronounced ‘Na Waka’) was established in 1988 by a small wine-growing family and continues today with the same ethos; to make excellent quality pinot noir. Based in the ‘south of the north’ island in NZ’s famous ‘grand cru’ region of Martinborough, this wine is an excellent example of what we know and love about the area. Pinot from these parts doesn’t shy away from a bit of density and savouriness with dark fruits, spice and tannin. However, don’t expect it to be a super delicate pinot, but a much more profound, round and flavourful wine. Ridiculous value here.
