There’s a reason this humble wine ranked in James Suckling’s top 100 Australian wines. The sub-region of Skilly Valley for which this wine is named imparts subtly different nuances to the wines as compared to other rieslings from the famed Clare Valley. There are bright aromas of orange blossom and cool minerality on the nose, followed by a sweetly peachy and tropical fruit rich palate. If this sounds like a recipe for flabbiness, think again. The acidity here is electric, leaving you pleasantly refreshed with every sip. I can say that I have personally stocked my cellar with this wine, now to try and hold on to it for a few more years to see it blossom to great heights...
